About Us

Scarr Moving & Storage, Inc is a family owned and operated business that was founded by my father Warren Scarr in 1962. My father retired in 1985 and I took over the business. I have strived to make Scarr Moving & Storage, Inc run the same consumer orientated and community orientated way as it was when run by my father.

We are a local agent for North American Van Lines. North American Van Lines is extremely focused on consumer satisfaction. All of their agents are rated on surveys sent to customers after the move has been completed. Scarr Moving & Storage, Inc has been awarded numerous times on quality. The most prestigious award North American presents to local agents is called the Commitment to Excellence status. This is awarded to agents who have an excellent quality rating in all areas of the moving and storage industry. We received this distinction in 1985 and 1998. Scarr Moving & Storage also received the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year in 2003 as well as the Chambers Business Excellence award in 1987.

Community Service/Activities:

I am very active with the California Rodeo as Concession Director. I am also a member of the Salinas Rotary Club. I am serving on the board of directors as youth service director. I was lucky enough to be a part of a volunteer group of Rotarians, plastic surgeons, and medical staff that went to Argentina. This group went there to perform numerous cleft palate surgeries on the young and old. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

In November 2003 I was on the committee that rose over $40,000 needed to complete the Foundations Medical Museum at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. The museum is designed to introduce our youth to the medical field with the hope of generating more interest in the medical profession to help lessen the shortage of doctors and nurses we have today.

Recently the city of Salinas called me to see if we could help in getting the John Steinbeck Truck used in, Travels with Charlie, to Salinas. With the help of North American Van Lines as well as my local crews, we were able to deliver as requested. It is now on display at the John Steinbeck Center in Salinas, Ca.

For approximately 2 ½ years Scarr Moving & Storage stored and delivered weight equipment for the Boys & Girls Club at no charge. We also provide storage at no cost for the California Rodeo, California International Air show and Salinas High School.

Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce Participation:

Scarr Moving & Storage, Inc has been an active member of the chamber since 1962. I was on the board from 1987 to 1988. We have been storing the chamber directories at no charge for years.

Other Pertinent Information:
